Our Anniversary Trip
Rob and I went to Chicago to celebrate our anniversary a little early last weekend. We have some wonderful friends who watched our kids for us, which made the whole weekend possible. The general theme for our trip was: FOOD! We love the show, "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" on the Food Network, so we decided to try some of the places that they covered on that show. We also tried a few other little hole-in-the-wall places. So much fun...so much good food.

We started our trip with lunch at this great little place in Green Bay.

The "Apple Holler" is a place in between here and Chicago that we pass all the time on the highway. I have always wanted to stop there, so we stopped here and got a little dessert - delicious Apple Dumplings.
This is the most incredible hotel that we stayed at in Schaumburg, IL. Rob got it on Priceline for an incredible deal. It is a four-star, super contemporary, beautiful hotel.
That is our room...on the corner...second from the top.

Rob told the guy at the front desk that we were celebrating our anniversary, so he gave us two tickets to their restaurant's breakfast. The cost would have been $20.00 a person at this super fancy place. Definitely some of the best breakfast foods we have ever eaten...our favorite...the Cinnamon Hazelnut French Toast...yum!!

We went downtown on Saturday, and had to stop at the American Girl store to get a treat for the girls. Maggie is really into the American Girl books right now, so she was so excited to see the pictures of this place. It is an incredible 3-story store. They have a Doll Hair Salon, a Doll Hospital, and even a restaurant where you can eat with your doll.

Rob and I are really into Sushi right now, and so Rob found this incredible restaurant near our hotel. Delicious...I told you the theme for this trip was FOOD!!

While we were downtown, we saw them taping the show "Ellen."
This is a restaurant that they covered on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." They are known for their onion rings and inside-out burgers...mmmmm!!!

We also went to a place called "Smoque" that was covered on our Food Network show. The St. Louis ribs were incredible.

Maggie absolutely loved the American Girl "Mini-Molly doll" that we brought her back.

I am so thankful for my best friend and soulmate that God has given me to spend the rest of my life with. We enjoy doing absolutely everything together...eating being one of them. This trip was so much fun, and we made so many terrific memories!! I love you Rob!!
